Acted as the process control liason and primary software engineer for the Pickle Line Tandem Cold Mill, where our steel bands would be trimmed, pickled, and cold reduced into thinner coils.
- Maintained and supported critical plant software systems, remaining on-call 24/7 to resolve production issues within hours and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Developed a C# service (via Kepware) to read real-time PLC data into Oracle, populating a tracking with product IDs and positions.
- Built a WinForms UI that automatically printed barcode labels and used a Bluetooth scanner to verify each coil’s ID—reducing mislabeling incidents from ~4 per shift to zero.
- Developed a C# service that read real-time sensor values from Hitachi PLC shared memory and centralized building alarms—automatically alerting on out-of-tolerance gauges and pH levels, and flagging pieces for repair or inspection via holds.
- Utilized IBA Data Analyzer to review factory-line product data and recommend process changes that improved quality metrics.
- Developed a Bash script to transfer Hitachi HMI alarm logs from the L2 server to L3 production servers, then wrote a parser application that consolidated and summarized nightly alarms—highlighting critical messages and counts by type—improving alarm visibility and reducing manual review time by up to 1 hour each day.
- Created SQL-driven reports to visualize product-quality trends and alert stakeholders to deviations for prompt corrective action.
